130,369 Meters of 120gsm Leather — Loaded Through the Night for India

A Tight Specification, a Full Container, and a Deadline We Kept
On October 9, we sealed one 40HQ container holding 130,369 meters of 120gsm leather, bound for a customer in India. The photograph above was taken during loading — under work lights, at night, with the container packed floor to ceiling. That detail is not incidental. It is the part of a shipment that most buyers never see.
The requirement. Our Indian customer specified 120gsm leather, a lightweight construction that leaves very little margin for variation in production. The customer needed one consistent specification held across more than 130,000 meters — not an approximate match, and not a container of small differences they would have to sort out themselves.
Why 120gsm demands discipline. Lighter material is less forgiving than heavier constructions. Gram weight has to stay within tolerance roll after roll, because any drift changes the hand-feel and how the finished material performs downstream. Surface uniformity and coating consistency matter just as much: on a lightweight base, an uneven coating or a tension problem shows up immediately in the finished roll. Our production team controlled these variables batch by batch and verified weight and surface quality before the material was released to packing, so that what our customer unloads in India behaves like one continuous specification.
Accuracy down to the meter. At 130,369 meters, measurement is not a formality. Every roll was measured and recorded, and the finished quantity was reconciled against the order before loading began, so the customer receives a documented figure they can check against their own intake records.
Packing and traceability. As the photo shows, each roll was individually wrapped in a protective white woven bag to shield it from dust and moisture on the sea voyage. Roll ends carry printed black identification labels with batch and length details, giving our customer roll-level traceability across the entire shipment.
Loading through the night. Finishing the load after dark was a deliberate choice: holding the agreed schedule matters more to us than a convenient finish time. The rolls were stacked to the container roof in an interlocking arrangement that uses the 40HQ's full volume and keeps the cargo stable in transit — the result visible in the photo.
A market we keep returning to. This is our second full-container shipment to India in recent weeks, following an earlier order of 0.2mm SKIN PU. Repeat volume in a demanding market is the kind of reference we would rather earn than advertise.
What this means for buyers. If you source leather at volume, ask a supplier what happens when the loading runs late and the specification is tight. We would be glad to discuss your requirements, share specifications and samples, or arrange a factory visit.
